Newsome took an early lead and gained control over Tampa Bay Tech until a late fourth quarter run brought the Titans their first lead with just a couple of minutes to play. The Wolves quickly regained the lead on a basket by Quincy Howell with one minute remaining in the game, and it looked like they would put the game away when Jake Hodges pulled down a rebound with 35 ticks left on the clock. However, Hodges missed the front end of a one and one and the Titans managed to convert a basket to tie the game with just 8 seconds to play. After bringing the ball into the frontcourt, Coach Jon Mackey called a timeout with just 3.8 seconds left and drew up the final play. The ball was inbounded in front of the Newsome bench to Dylan Fugate, who drove past screens set by Joe Raga and Samal Shepherd for a basket and the win as time expired.

Dezmond Walker had an outstanding scoring performance for the Titans as the senior led all scorers with 30 points. Sophomore Alton Bailey had another strong outing as he powered his way to 18 points and a huge number of rebounds. The Wolves had 3 players in double figures as Sophomore Jake Hodges led the way with 23 points on 11 for 14 baskets from the field, while Junior Joe Raga got it done from the line, where he was 9-11 on his way to a 15 point night. They were joined in double figures by Senior Dylan Fugate with 11 points and numerous assists.
