With the season one game past the half way mark, it's time again to renew the great rivalry with the Bloomingdale Bulls. In the first game of the season, the high and mighty Bulls marched into the Wolves den expecting to have a stomping good time destroying the lowly Wolves. By the time they left, the Bulls had received a heavy dose of reality and a double digit loss. Since then, a lot has changed. Both teams have continued to win, although both teams lost to King. In their game at King, the Bulls suffered a terrible misfortune as their star player, leader, and comrade Callum Townsend went down with a season ending injury. In the game that followed, Bloomingdale suffered a letdown, losing 74-60 to the Brandon Eagles. Since then, the Bulls recovered to smother the Wharton Wildcats 50-38 and demonstrated the kind of team that they can be even without the talented Mr Townsend. In the meantime, Newsome has done things right, winning all their district games with the exception of a 4 point loss to an excellent King team in a game that went down to the final 3 seconds. Newsome currently holds a two game lead over Bloomingdale and King, but must still face both of these teams on the road. We recommend both Bloomingdale games as THE two most exciting games of the year in East Hillsborough County because of the spirited energy infusion provided by the spirited rowd of students. The teams feed on the energy of the crowd, both positive and negative, so be sure and be on hand to cheer the Wolves to victory at Bloomingdale Friday night at 7:45!
