Two East Hillsborough coaches announced they will not be coming back next year. After leading this years senior-laden team to the State semifinals in Lakeland, Coach Mark Hermann exits at the top. His team graduated 8 seniors including Boston College signee Evan Ravenel, University of Tampa signee Marcus Morrison and all-stars Tarron Stewart and Blake Allen. Coach Hermann leaves behind a legacy of excellence, from the way his kids camps were run, to the 7 district championships, to the players who have gone on to excel at a higher level, he has been a class act. Basketball in this county will be diminished by his departure. According to Maxpreps.com, his last two teams were a combined 47-11.

Also retiring is Mike Baker of Riverview. Baker has been the only coach at Riverview in its 10 years, and although he led the team to a district championship in 2004, his tenure has been best known by his vociferous presence on the sidelines and the players who were not on the court. This season was mired in controversy as some players experienced legal problems, others quit and ultimately the JV and the varsity was merged in order for Riverview to continue to field a team. The last two seasons the Sharks combined record was 4-33, according to maxpreps.
