If the Newsome Wolves basketball team sticks to business this week, it will put itself in very good shape for the homestretch of district play.  Currently in first place with a record of 6-1 (11-3 overall), the team must put that ranking on the line three times in 5 days this week, at home against the Eagles of Brandon on Tuesday, followed by the short drive to archrival Bloomingdale Friday and an immediate callback Saturday afternoon at home versus the Freedom Patriots.

First up in this second half of district play, Brandon.  While Brandon has struggled to get in the win column, last weekend they put it all together and defeated Bloomingdale 74-60.  Did Bloomingdale just lose their focus or did Allie Turley's Brandon team finally find it's rhythm?  Who knows?  The Wolves must focus on playing their game right.  In the first meeting with the Eagles, the Wolves trailed by ten at the half before storming back with a successful trapping D to win by ten.  You can believe coach Turley's team will be much better prepared to deal with that this time around.

We'll provide more information later this week on the matchups with the Bulls and Patriots.  This is a great week to watch Newsome as all three games are so close to home!
