Brandon, FL   With only one game remaining for each team, Manatee has secured the regular season title and will represent the Central Division in the Lightning Cup at the St. Pete Times Forum on February 28th at 2 p.m.  The event, hosted by the Tampa Bay Lightning and open to the public, will showcase the top high school teams from the Central and Western Divisions.  Manatee will also be the top seed in the Central Division Playoffs, scheduled for March 5th and 6th in Brandon, where the top four teams will play for the Division Championship.

The Week 20 games were important ones for the pure teams battling for the top of the standings.  Newsome Blue lost to Freedom, while Wharton defeated Sarasota.  With only one point separating them, their last games of the season will determine if Wharton or Newsome Blue finishes the regular season as the top Pure team.  Both teams have already secured a berth at the State tournament in Coral Springs, March 19-21st.  The top team will play in Division I at States and the second place team will compete in Division II.  Newsome Blue is the defending champion of Division II, having defeated West Boca last March for the State title.
