The King Lions jumped out to an early lead against the Wolves last night, repeatedly using their length and agility to steal the ball for easy transition buckets on their way to a 62-28 victory. The Wolves continue to hold on to first place in the district by a slim one game margin over King. Tomorrow night the team returns to the friendly confines of the Wolves Den to take on the Wharton Wildcats, a 65-45 winner over Brandon last night. In the first meeting of the two teams, the Wildcats took an early lead and then attempted to hold it. Their slow-down offense was so extreme that they on more than one occasion held the ball for two minutes without taking a shot. In the end, some threes from freshman Dylan Bridges were able to close Wharton's lead, setting up a game-tying three point shot by Trent MacKey at the end of regulation. In the overtime, the Wildcats took an early two point lead, but their attempt to hold the ball til the end backfired as the Wolves came away with a 40-36 victory.
