The rumors that swirled around last week before the Newsome-King game have been substantiated; King High School has forfeited 4 games they won on the court by an average of almost 40 points for using an ineligible player. In addition to pulverizing Lennard 74-31 in a non-district matchup, the Lions forfeit games to Armwood (67-37 on the court), Tampa Bay Tech (68-23), and Brandon (65-27). As a result, the district standings are now as follows:
Since the issue was discovered before the Newsome and Freedom games, the Lions retain those victory. Bloomingdale is now tied with Newsome for first place. The ineligible player was not named and we don't pass on rumors here, so we will update you only when we get an official statement.
